1. It was crazy crowded this year and I’m not sure why.
2. No displays from Audi, BMW, or Mercedes this year. Odd.
3. The Subaru Legacy Limited had the best seats of anything I sat in, including pricey vehicles from Volvo, Lincoln, and Lexus.
4. Saw the Mustang Mach-e on display. It was the ugliest thing I’ve seen in a long time.
5. Trucks are getting ridiculously expensive. My wife and I would sit in a big ole’ truck, laugh at the MSRP, and move on.
6. I didn’t walk out wowed by anything other than the seats in the Legacy.
7. Hopefully I won’t get the flu from touching steering wheels all day long.
8. It was something to do on a semi-warm day in DC. Would rate 2.5 of 5 stars.

#2) The german 3 seem to be skipping everything except NY and LA. A friend was in teh market and super pissed they skipped the Boston.
5) we’d play a game and “over or under 55k”

I wonder why they’re skipping big markets ? BMW’s are like Toyota’s around here. They seem to be everywhere. You’d think they want to get their customer base excited about new models
The over under game is awesome!

If I had to guess I’d say:
They don’t think most of their customers are likely to be shopping at an auto show.
Even for those that do, t hey want more control over the experience for potential customers.

Pretty much describes my experience at last year’s Chicago. I also found wagons, both Subaru and Volvo for example, often have roomier back seats - especially for head room - than even medium SUVs
HFV has no HFV. But somehow has 2 motorcycles

Crazy that Subaru had impressive seats. If they can make a WRX/STI with comfortable seats that would be amazing.

Continuing on what facw said, it is why they’ve switched to sponsoring events such as Goodwood as they can have a more theatrical experience.

I've been to the NY auto show for the past two years since I live in NYC and the Germans either don't come or bring cars no one can even be near. They really don't understand the point of a car show.

BMW and Mercedes aren’t even doing Chicago anymore. It’s irritating, but they’re doing different events that they think work better.

I sat in a WRX and an STI as well . The seats were OK, but not in the same league as the Legacy.

car shows- at least big ones with manufacturer participation- are slowly dying. they’re very expensive to put on (and participate in) and manufacturers often don’t see any direct evidence they lead to sales. More and more you’re going to see new product reveals done in local one-off manufacturer-run events e.g. Ford revealing the new Super Duty pickup at the Texas State Fair.
More and more I think we’ll see auto shows go back to what they used to be; smaller affairs run by regional dealer groups. Those actually help generate sales.

2) A ren’t all of the smaller auto shows set up by the local dealer networks and not corporate?

correct, though I think corporate used to give them some incentives.
415s30 might know better.
